What is LILTA?
An association committed to serving the Long Island
Latino community.
Latinos are the fastest growing ethnic and cultural
group in the United States. This demographic trend is reflected
in the student population of many school districts across Long
Island. Sadly, educational statistics indicate that there is also
a wide academic achievement gap within this group contributing to a
high student retention and/or dropout rate.
LILTA-Long Island Latino Teachers Association was established as a
non-profit organization comprised of committed professional and
para-professionals, who advocate for high quality education to an
underserved population of students.
Our professionals are working together within the educational system to
address the common risk factors that impact the academic outcomes of
the Latino population and other ethnic groups.
We encourage you to explore our site, see the wonderful
things we are doing here on Long Island to improve the situation of the
next generation of Latino leaders. If you are excited by what we are
doing, join us. We are a young association and we are always in need of
people committed to our cause.
